Module 1 - Master Mix Part 1; The Ingredients
THE most fundamental (and often the most difficult) part of becoming a texture artist? A plaster mix that works.
That's why we start with the Master Mix, my signature system that will lead you through developing your own texture mix that doesn't crack, lift, or crumble.
We'll dive straight in to introducing what makes a good mix work, the product options available and most importantly which work, and why. No matter where you live or what you have access to, you'll be able to dive in and start creating your own Master Mix.
Module 2 - Master Mix Part 2; The Recipe
We've figured out our ingredients and now it's time for the second half of the secret sauce; the recipe!
It will be unique to you and the products you choose, but worry not, Module 2 leads you through step by step.
And then once you have your Master Mix complete, we'll go even further, and learn how to adapt it for different types of artwork AND changes in temperature and working conditions! It's not called the Master Mix for no reason, right?
Module 3 - Surface School
There are two main reasons that plaster art cracks and lifts. The first being issues that arise from the texture mix, which we've already solved in the first two modules.
Now in Surface School, we look at problems that arise from the surfaces our textured art is created on. Is canvas is the only option (or even the best)? Plus how to prime your surfaces, prepare your edges and more!
Because only with the right preparation can you really make high quality, professional, textured art.
Module 4 - Texture Fundamentals
We have our Master Mix, we’ve chosen our surfaces, it's time to start making some texture!
I specifically designed the Texture Fundamentals to be the perfect entryway to plaster art, whether you're a beginner, refreshing your skills or transferring from a different art medium. It's getting exciting and we're stepping up into more advanced Texture Techniques, many of which I use in my own practice as a full time plaster artist!

Do I need to have any experience in art or textured art to do this course?

Will I need a lot of space and expensive materials?

Most of the products are effectively building/DIY materials. and you don't need a lot of specialist tools either, you can repurpose many things from around the home and garden, or from nature.
As for space, I started creating textured art while I was a university student with VERY little space. A kitchen table or your living room floor, with a protective sheet down, will work perfectly.
